Fitness Australia has updated the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening Tool in a joint effort with Sports Medicine Australia and Exercise and Sports Science Australia.
The following was taken from an article outlining the updates to the screening tool.
“Barrie Elvish, CEO of Fitness Australia considers that the great opportunity in utilising the Adult Pre-practice Screening System tool is that it gives consumers and professional’s confidence in estimating needs and risks on entry or re-entry to physical activity.
The Adult Pre-Exercise Screening System (APSS) has been a guiding resource for the health and fitness professions of the most recent seven years.
In recent months, a broad survey of the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening System was conducted with the APSS Working Group, recognising the need to embrace a global approach to pre-practice screening.
“Every AusREP and exercise provider should be using this tool as the first step in the process of pre-screening people – it’s best-practice and is putting client safety first.”
These updates have been accommodated within the FitDesk fitness consultation so health clubs using FitDesk can be confident they are using the latest industry standard.
