Today, I wanted to talk about improving onboarding processes in the health club, and how to improve your onboarding of new members.
There are six elements that you should ideally use in your onboarding process, and these are at different media.
The first of those is email. You might have a welcome email, or you might email some articles out to members, or content that can help educate the member. Email is one element that should be used.
We also want to use SMS. This is better for short, punchy reminders, like appointment reminders or other promotional type reminders.
Another thing we should include is face to face interaction. We should have perhaps an appointment or some face to face interaction, to build that human to human connection.
Another media we should include in our onboarding is a phone call. Perhaps, it’s just a two-minute phone call to check in two weeks after the members joined.
Another one is the video. I think this is the most underutilized element that you can include in onboarding because you can convey a lot more through a video and you can help build a relationship and so forth. Email and video are good to use in tandem.
And finally, the sixth element is a free gift. Have some gifts for members to give them a surprise, and something to reward them for joining.
By mixing up the different elements you use in your onboarding, you can more effectively connect with members because not everybody consumes content in the same way. Some prefer to read; some prefer to watch.
By mixing up your media in your onboarding, you’re going to ensure you connect with the most number of members that are joining your health club.
